Agricultural labour productivity growth and food insecurity transitions among maize farming households in rural Nigeria

Agriculture in rural Nigeria is labour-intensive. Thus, the much-desired transition from food insecurity to security by households-requires growth labour productivity. Labour productivity and its effect among other factors on transitions of maize farming households were assessed. Food indices constructed using second third waves data General Household Survey-Panel (2012 2015), a probabilistic model was specified. The analytical tools used descriptive statistics, Partial factor (labour) productivity, Foster-Greer-Thorbecke Model, Markov chain model, Tobit, Multinomial Logit Regression Models. increased between two periods although very low. negatively significantly affected into being chronically insecure. boost for should be targeted as safetynet, especially insecure vulnerable insecurity.
